a space for black christian theologies and spiritual curiosities

seeking to understand

In order to facilitate a community of spiritual and emotional safety, we identify ourselves as those “seeking to understand” vs. those who “already understand” or “already know.” Regardless of our position in the church, number and type of degrees, age, skin complexion, gender identity or sexual orientation, we are all seeking to understand. It is with this humble posture we will communicate with one another.

values

accessibility

There is a lack of black representation in public theological discourse, and thus of access to black theological perspective - even among black peoples. It will be a priority of this community to provide such access..

justice

We seek to act justly towards one another and towards the world that exists outside of this community. Hopefully, as we explore theology we come to a deeper conviction of how God is calling us to act more justly to each other, others and all of creation.

love

It is our common love for Jesus and the things of God that initially brings this community together. However, it is Jesus’ love for us that binds us as one. It is from this love that this community begins.
